CA Seniors

Directed by Nicholas White

Ireland Tour '04This internationally acclaimed children's choir has impressed audiences with the best of choral music, both sacred and secular, since its founding in September 1991 by Grammy-winner Paul Halley. Artists-in-residence at Trinity Episcopal Church in Torrington, CT, the ensemble comprises fifty boys and girls who hail from towns throughout southwestern New England. In an annual season of 25 concerts the chorus performs a large and varied repertoire, from the classics of choral literature to contemporary and original compositions. Performances have included collaborations with the Hartford Symphony and The Paul Winter Consort in venues such as Boston's Symphony Hall, The Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City, The Warner Theater in Torrington, CT and The Music Shed in Norfolk, CT. The choir performs annually with the adult ensemble Gaudeamus and the Battell Chamber Orchestra at Ozawa Hall, Tanglewood in a special concert entitled Salute to America which honors American composers and patriotic themes. Chorus Angelicus has toured the East coast from Key West, Florida to Halifax, Nova Scotia, Pacific Northwest from Vancouver, B.C. to Portland, OR. and Ireland. The choir is frequently invited to perform at workshops, concert series and music festivals, and both Chorus Angelicus and Gaudeamus were invited to sing at the 1999 inauguration of the Governor. Connecticut Public Television recently crafted a feature program on Chorus Angelicus, focusing on this extraordinary choir's accomplishments in the recent Music For A Great Space series. Christmas in Connecticut a book by Diane Smith of The Morning Show, WTIC-AM, highlights the choir's beloved Christmas Angelicus concert series, also televised in a news special with NBC in New York and Hartford.

choristerChorus Angelicus shines in a new Millenium compliation of their most vibrant repetoire from Serbia and Russia to South Africa and the Dominican Republic. The choir was also featured on a recent Telarc release, Dance On A Moonbeam, with such luminaries as Frederica von Stade, Dawn Upshaw, Meryl Streep, and the London Symphony Orchestra. Chorus Angelicus is also featured on three earlier recordings: Christmas Angelicus, a celebration of the holiday season combining traditional and contemporary carols; Wondrous Love with Gaudeamus and The Battell Brass in performances of choral works Paul Halley; and Voices of Light, the choir's debut album with the flutist Rhonda Larson.

The Senior Chorister level is the top level within the choir. They are the most expert singers in the group. Senior Choristers must be willing to commit to making their participation in Chorus Angelicus a top priority in their lives, with all the privileges and responsibilities involved. The seriousness of this commitment is essential to the quality of Chorus Angelicus.
